What is Diwali - Lakshmi puja all about?


Three forms of Shakti namely Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswathi and Goddess Durga and Lord Ganesh and Lord Kubera are worshipped on the day. No puja is performed without paying customary tributes to Lord Ganesha. Lord Kubera, represents wealth, and he is the treasurer of Gods. In homes, usually the locker or safe in which gold and cash is kept symbolically represents the seat of Kubera. All Shakti, Ganesha temples in the country organizes day-long special pujas by chanting sahasranamas and offer oblations to the deity to bring wealth, prosperity and happiness into the lives of people. Performing lakshmi pujas and Sri Sookta homam on diwali day is considered to be very auspicious. It is advised that persons in all Rasis in general and those born in the above Rasis in particular perform Poojas to appease Lord Sani.
