This is an ancient Hanuman temple located in the beautiful and serene environment of the Idugampalayam village on the outskirts of Coimbatore.
The Moola Vigraha of Hanuman here is a huge monolithic sculpture carved out of the rock which is part of the hillock on which the temple is located.
The temple was established by the renowned saint of the Madhwa sampradaya Shri Vyasa Raya Tirtha who constructed around 184 such Hanuman temples all over Tamilnadu and Karnataka during his lifetime, around 400 years ago, to popularize worship of Hanuman and to spread the teachings of Shri Madhwacharya. The image of Hanuman established by Vyasa Raya stand out because of their unique features such as the abhaya hasta raised up in a blessing gesture.
Jayamangala Hanuman bestow victory and auspicious qualities on his devotees. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in a grand manner here and thousands of devotees flock to the temple to have darshan.
