Lord Shiva is worshipped as Nellaiappar and Devi Parvati as Kanthimathi Amman. Sage Agastya is said to have worshipped Lord Siva in this temple. Shiva is also called as Venunathar, Veithanathar, Nelvelinathar and Salivanathar here. Devi Parvati is also called by the names Vadivudaiamman and Thirukamakottamudaiya Nachiar. Lord Vinayaga is called Polla Pillaiyar and Lord Muruga, Arumuga Peruman.
