The pooja begins with the worship of Lord Ganesha, the Navagrahas and culimnates with the worship of the presiding deity Lord Satyanarayana. This is followed by the narration of the Satyanarayana Katha which emphasizes the efficacy of performing this pooja. This pooja can also be enhanced further by the performance of a yagna or homam in which oblations are offered to the fire with the chanting of the Gayatri mantra & the Purusha Sooktam.
