Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, Coimbatore
This temple is one of the most popular Ganesha temples in Coimbatore and neighbouring districts. It is also one of the oldest in Coimbatore and dates back to around 1500A.D. The moolavar (murti of Ganesha which is installed in the sanctum sanctorum) at this temple was actually meant for the Perur Patteeswarar temple but the vehicle carrying it got stuck here on its way from Madurai. Eachnari thus became the blessed place to house a temple for Lord Ganesha. The deity's height is 6 feet and the width is 3 feet and it is one of the biggest murtis in South India. The last kumbabishekam was performed in 1990. This temple is also popular for performing vahana poojas – devotees believe that if a new vehicle is brought here for the first pooja (as Lord Ganesha is the lord of all beginnings), it safeguards the vehicle and the owner from all accidents. Lord Ganesha is the parihara deity for Ketu dosha (if the planet Ketu is afflicted in one’s horoscope or one is experiencing the transition period of Ketu). Offer worship at this ancient shrine of Lord Ganesha and receive his divine grace in abundance.
