Ashtamsa Sri Varada Anjaneya (Hanuman) Temple, Peelamedu, Coimbatore

Rs. 415.00

Located at near Suguna Kalyanamandapam, Peelamedu, the Ashtamsa Sri Varada Anjaneya is endued with eight special features. Hence it is considered unique among temples dedicated to Hanuman. Normally, Hanuman is portrayed with his hands folded, praying to his Master Lord Sri Rama. But, the gomukhi-structured image of the deity here in Peelamedu, facing west and measuring eight feet, is of a different kind. Lord Hanuman’s abhaya hastha (right hand) removes fear while the left hand with gada (mace) destroys the six internal enemies of lust, anger, greed, infatuation, ego and jealousy afflicting the human mind as well as external foes. The face turned towards the Sanjivi Hill in the Western Ghats bestows on the devotees a long and healthy life free of disease. His legs pointing to the south, ward off calamities like untimely death. Usually, Hanuman's tail is hidden behind him. But here, the devotees can have a full view of it. It is said that the nine planets reside in Hanuman’s tail and so paying obeisance to the tail rids one of the malefic effects of the navagrahas.
